CES360_Logo finalMSoft have completed the implementation of a full AssetHound Solution for The Technical Support Services Department (part of the Facilities Directorate), based at Inverurie Hospitals.

The Technical Support Services Department, controls:

  • Installation and maintenance of medical devices
  • Decontamination
  • Design & Installation Services

The TSS Department is responsible for the testing/servicing/maintenance of medical¬†devices at patient’s homes, clinics, schools and hospitals throughout the Grampian Health Board area.

This comprises North, South and Central Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen and Moray and parts of Angus and Perth & Kinross; an area of over 6000 square miles and a population of over 600,000.

Before Medical Devices leave Inverurie premises, they are assembled and tested, then, prior to being installed at the patient’s home, the technicians check the electrical circuit of the residence then, once installed, the device is tested again.¬† The technician will then instruct the patient and/or carer in the correct use of the Device.

When the patient no longer requires the Medical Devices, Technical Support Services collect and deliver them to the Decontamination Unit at Inverurie Hospital.

The decontaminated Devices are then registered as stock before being returned to the stores.

Over 700 items are cleaned at the Inverurie Decontamination Unit each week.

As well as providing a testing/maintenance service for a range of medical devices at hospitals, surgeries, clinics, schools, dentists and dental and podiatry units all over Grampian Health Board area. The Technical Support Services Department provides a Design and Installation Service, sharing its expertise with new, local decontamination units and High Street Dental Practices.

The TSS department is also responsible for the HTM/LOLER testing/servicing/maintenance of all the medical devices that fall within the medical device regulations which include;

  • Endoscopy Decontamination Devices
  • Instrument Decontamination Devices
  • Electric Beds Patient Lifting Devices
  • Renal Dialysis Units

The priority, when supplying, maintaining and removing Medical Devices is to meet the needs of both clinicians and patients with minimum inconvenience to each.
