Trafford Teamwork Reaps Prestigous Award for MSoft
November 22nd 2007, MSoft and Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust won recognition for completing one of the UK's outstanding IT health projects at the BT e-Health awards in London for bringing blood transfusions into the 21st century with the UK's first web-based blood tracking system
Apart from providing complete accountability for blood transfusions, the judges recognized the efforts of the team to successfully integrate the blood tracking system with the other computer systems, such as electronic patient records, used by the Trust.
Patients can actually see their personal details on screen when their blood bag is scanned at their bedside using handheld computers which track all stock from the blood bank to the ward.
Project manager at Trafford for the new system, Steve Parsons, was at the ceremony in London to receive the award, sponsored by Voice Power commented, "We were absolutely thrilled to be announced as the winner. As the birthplace of the NHS we have a heritage of innovation, and that spirit has been recognized and rewarded. It's a credit to all the people who worked on this project."
MSoft sales director Martin Blake added, “The team must take great credit since this is a project that makes front line nursing staff more effective in the transfusion process as well as removing the associated risks. The value of Trafford's input into the processes involved has also appealed to a number of other NHS Trusts in the UK and we're delighted to have made such a substantial contribution to safer and more accountable use of blood products across the UK.
