Trafford Commemorates Accreditation for new Blood Tracking system
April 2nd 2007, the staff at Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust behind their innovative new blood tracking system have welcomed the response from the Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) UK, whose role as an independent inspection organization it is to ensure compliance with all relevant standards and legislation.
The CPA stated, “The department should be congratulated on the introduction of its new blood tracking procedure, which is first class and could be used by others in their network to show exemplar practice.”
“It's a great accolade for the team especially Dr David Alderson and Marie Green, Specialist Practitioner of Transfusion at Trafford General who worked so effectively with us to develop the system,” comments Martin Blake of MSoft who have developed the technology behind the blood tracking system which can trace the blood along its journey from donor to recipient.
Healthcare professionals worked with MSoft's technical team to deliver the core functionality for an auditable blood trace from vein to vein across Trafford's Health Authority in line with EC regulations.
MSoft's development team have taken this framework as the basis of a UK wide blood tracking solution that is fully compliant with the technical architecture found within the NHS. The solution is based on technology behind an innovative and award winning e-procurement and equipment management solution MSoft developed for Glasgow City Council.
In bringing the product to market MSoft has leveraged technology from Redhat, Sun Microsystems, Microsoft and IBM to deliver an enterprise class scalable solution that fits within existing and proposed NHS IT architectures.
Using web based deployment the system has effectively been future proofed to accommodate further changes in technology and continue to advance the solution's functionality. Operationally the system supports real time wireless operation on wards, the use of RFID technology and bar codes currently used to track blood stocks and link to individual electronic patient records.
It's an approach which has already appealed to a number of Health Authorities in the UK who are currently in the process of installing MSoft's blood tracking solution
